Just curious

3 free credit scores

(Click the button above to see your credit scores for free)

Hi,
If I order my free annual credit report from the 3 major companies, will any of the 3 send me more paperwork to fill out first? For example: copies of id..etc.. If I recall, Transunion goes straight ahead and lets you view, but what about the other 2?

p.s. which is the easiest most affordable link to see your scores? i really don’t want to join a monthly subsciption…
i just read the bottom of the printed form to send by mail..it says if additional information is needed to process your request, the consumer credit reporting company will contact you by mail…
I guess this would be Equifax or Experian or both…
Is that usually what happens?

Credit monitoring service…repairing credit, is this service necessary?

March 5th, 2011 by admin | 4 Comments | Filed in 3 Free Credit Scores

I am in the process of repairing my credit. I already have the most up-to-date credit reports from the 3 major bureaus which I got for free from http://www.annualcreditreport.com

While repairing my credit, having debts deleted or paid off, etc…I want to be able to see the changes happening. I can only order my credit reports for free once per year…so cannot check to make sure that collectors are erasing the debts as being requested in negotiations. I was wondering if anyone uses a "realtime" credit monitoring service (preferably that is updated daily, or everytime a change is made to the report), so that I can validate my requests are happening.

I’m not so much concerned about the scoring…but if it’s included, then I suppose that’s a bonus. Any suggestions? Is there a way to request my FREE credit report more than once per year (e.g. tell the CRA’s that I am repairing credit, and need a fresh copy, etc) without having to pay each time?
Micki…you did not read my question at all. I am talking about online monitoring services, not a debt consolidator or debt management service. I am doing the work myself.
Sgt Big Red, thanks for the response. Are you referring to "they" as the CRA’s (Equifax, Experian, TU)? "They" make changes all the time to reports, without sending you an updated report, thus why you have to request it. Otherwise, every time someone inquires into my credit file, or reports me (adversely or positively), I would get a new credit report in the mail. I’m not so sure who you’re referring to…

If you mean the collection agency will send me an updated report, I wouldn’t count on that either…they just want their money to settle the debt, not send me an updated report.

if i got a experian report from freecreditreport.com can i still get the other two from annualcreditreport.com

February 20th, 2011 by admin | 2 Comments | Filed in 3 Free Credit Scores

i got a credit report from freecreditreport.com not knowing about other credit report sites that dont require a credit card, took 5 mins to cancel over phone so it wasnt to bad using freecreditreport.com.

im 23 and have never looked at my credit score before so i wanted to just check it out make sure everything was ok. i was happy to see it was 740+ on experian. so my question is, does that count as my one free report a year from experian? can i go to a place like annualcreditreport.com and request the other 2 to make sure they match? i dont want to do something that im not supposed to and have my credit score lowered. one other question is are all 3 credit places scores usualy around the same? who low balls and who high balls? any help would be great! thanks!

why is it so hard to find my credit report?

February 13th, 2011 by admin | 2 Comments | Filed in 3 Free Credit Scores

Not going to use "free credit report.com" not going to equifax or experian, or the other one I forget because their sites look shady too.

anyway PNC can check my credit score? why the fuck does it cost 1 dollar, and why does FCR.com submit "some" of my personal information to 3rd parties (it says so in their privacy policy) and ever since I signed up with THEM I keep getting frauded, or being hacked and whatnot.

any place that is not even romotely connected to the internet? or doesn’t cost 1$ and a 12$ a month membership to view? Im pissed.

Pay off credit cards and auto loan to get a new auto loan or just pay off credit cards?

February 12th, 2011 by admin | 3 Comments | Filed in 3 Free Credit Scores

I’ve had credit for 1 year and 5 months i have 10 inquires and i’m really looking to get a new auto loan for 15000 i have a credit score around 640-670. as a debt collector i go with experian and it is 664. knowing that i’ve also had my new job for 3 months and my own business for 2 years. i make about 36,000 + and my debt is around 7,000. so should i pay everything off and close it out or should i keep my credit cards with the longest amount of time 1 yr and 5 months so i can show i’m making payments i know the 30% rule as well. So i need to know the best way to get an auto loan fast! please feel free to email vqlleyballhqttie@aol.com
I have the ability to pay off my credit cards and my auto loan by october, but paying it off means i have no debt what so ever i make 36k+ so paying it off by the beginning of october is simple but i can either say 6000 by then and buy a car or i can pay off all my debts and then get a new loan for a new car. the deal is with my company i need a new car and i need it within the next 4 to 5 months. my company can’t expand and we are over loaded with just the 2 vehicles we have so i need to know what’s best
I never have anywhere near 25% more debt than i make. meaning if i make 4000+ a month my bills personally are under 1000. paying things off quickly is easy so getting a 15,000 dollar car loan is not more debt considering with in probably 18 months i could have it paid off. i just can’t wait that long to save

Is it this hard fighting for your credit?

February 8th, 2011 by admin | 2 Comments | Filed in 3 Free Credit Scores

I recently found out my credit is good with Experian and bad with TransUnion and Equifax (all in the 600s) but when I called and disputed an old utility bill someone had with my social security number (my ex husband) they gave me the third degree like I was the thief! It ticked me off to say the least. Then when you speak to TransUion they are telling you your report may have changed since you’ve ordered it two days ago..and they ask you do you want the free 30 day trial when and then to be billed afterwards, even though you are paying for your credit report each month!! Talk about money grubbing!! Experian was awesome about the whole situation though their customer service was better. I don’t know about Equifax yet. They are like the lochness monster of credit. I have to write them via certified mail.

Are all credit companies this rude?
Do you think their should be tougher laws on people who steal the identities of others?
Do you think you should be held responsible for your ex spouses debt?
Do you think Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion should have better customer service and finally
Do you think you should be able to obtain a copy of your credit report for free every six months instead of one report one time per year???

Back story: Tried to get a car I was denied citing my credit report. Then I tried to get a new apartment couldn’t because I was 2-3 points too low on my credit score so I was denied an apartment too! Found out my identity was stolen by some thief who broke into my home Christmas ‘05, my sister, AND my ex-husband!!!
I do have the police report from 2005 amongst my important papers. Luckily. Two and a half years ago I bought a car with no problem and I paid it off on time never late not once. I’ve never had any credit cards or credit card debt. Yeah I got TransUnion and Experian on the phone. I gave TransUnion the number of the company that my ex husband used to get lights in my name. I never signed anything to get lights on. I just hope I can fix the situation soon. Thank you for your great answers. :)

How long does the "High Balance" on the credit report stay on your credit report?

February 7th, 2011 by admin | 1 Comment | Filed in 3 Free Credit Scores

I was recently declined an Amex blue credit card with a credit score of 750 (Experian) and the reason they provided was my Trans Union credit score was low. So under the federal law I was entitled to request for a free copy of the report they used to determine my application.

I took a look at the Trans Union report and they show all the "High Balance" meaning the highest balance I’ve had so far. I just graduated from college 3 yrs ago and I only have 2 yr of credit history. My income is 64K and my total Monthly credit limit combining all the credit card accounts is K

I have 3 bank credit cards and 2 store credit cards and my payments were made on time and I always paid in full. For my credit card accounts my High Banlace is almost near my Credit Limit but I always paid everything in full every month. This happened because I wanted to build my credit and I didn’t have any knowledge about credit so I thought if I used more and paid back more, I thought my credit would get built up faster.

Does anyone know how long these "High Balance" stay on my credit report? a year? couple yrs? or forever??

Is it possible to get a FICO score for free? (and how to repair your credit report)

December 28th, 2010 by admin | 5 Comments | Filed in 3 Free Credit Scores

Jean Chatzky is correct, you cannot get your FICO score–the score that is used by lenders–for free. However, if you want an approximation of that score, there are a few companies that will provide them for free. But keep in mind, that each free attempt will in fact add an inquiry to your report which has been known to lower your score. See credit score myths below. And all [except MY FICO] are the credit scores developed by the credit bureaus themselves, Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax, and are not your actual FICO scores. Only the FICO score from myfico.com is used by lenders to determine your credit worthiness. CreditKarma.com: Gives you your TransUnion score. But it is Advertising-supported. E-Loan: Experian score. If you visit their website, be sure to scroll down to “One-Time Credit Snapshots” and “Free Credit Score (Credit Score Only)” Prosper: Experian score. Feel free to ask any credit related questions in the comments section of this video. I’ll be happy to answer them if I can. ALSO, PLEASE FREEZE YOUR CREDIT REPORTS!!!!!! and please go to www.optoutprescreen.com to opt out of all offers of credit and insurance for 5 years. Don’t bother with the permanent opt-out. Credit score myths: Myth: You have only one credit score. You actually have three scores, one from each of the three bureaus (Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax). They use the same “equation” from Fair Isaac Corporation but they each collect their own data, they each have their own slightly
